Evacuation of Sri Lankans in the Sudan

Guaranteeing the security and safety of Sri Lankans stranded in the Republic of the Sudan is the major concern of the Authorities of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka continues to watch the evolving safety state of affairs in the Sudan and is intently working with its worldwide companions, together with the Authorities of India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to evacuate the stranded Sri Lankans.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo and Sri Lanka’s Honorary Consul in Khartoum are in common contact with the related events in Khartoum, together with the Sudanese authorities and the Indian Embassy in Khartoum, to safe protected evacuation.

As of this morning (26/4), 13 (13) Sri Lankans who had been evacuated with the help of the Saudi Authorities have been obtained in Jeddah by Sri Lanka’s Appearing Consul Common. Twelve (12) extra Sri Lankans are in Port Sudan awaiting evacuation.

The Authorities of Sri Lanka is making each effort to evacuate the remaining Sri Lankans in Khartoum, taking into consideration the want for protected passage in a risky safety state of affairs.
